New season - new features
With the start of the 2015/ 2016 season Steelers revamped their website and kit. This year, the Steelers have entered the league with a premier team, 1st Division team, 2nd Division and Development Team. This means there is a playing level for all abilities and wishes. Further, Steelers have 2 junior teams (Under 15 and under 19) and 2 women league teams.
Last season was one of transition for the club and challenges that come with having a team in every possible division. Unfortunately with the loss of some key players such as Leah Evans (due to move to the GB women set up in Worcester) or Chris Rainforth, who went to Bristol to study medicine and the league retirement of ex-international player Yvonne Waft, Steelers had to make the decision to let go of one team. This hopefully gives the club more room for junior development and the transition, that the teams are still undergoing.
At the play offs 2015 Steelers had 3 teams with the final standings of:
Womens team - won the women league 2014/2015 and silver in the play-offs in a nail biter game, that went into overtime
1st Division - won the 1st Division north and bronze in the play-offs
3rd Division - won 3rd Division central, came 4th in the play-offs
So far, the teams had a mixed start in the new season and clearly need to put in the work to continue their development and connect to previous successes.
