It is with great sadness that we learned that one of the Steelers founding members, Alistair Flynn, passed away early this morning, Saturday 2nd April, after an illness. Alistair was a true gentleman and a fantastic team player for the short time that he had played with the Steelers. He had to give up wheelchair basketball because of serious issues with his health, back in the early 90's. He always had a smile and always saw the glass half full with a cheeky glint in his eye, and was a master of the one liners.
His dedication to the Steelers and determination when playing was second to none - always working hard for others and getting the reward from seeing others scoring and the Steelers winning games. Although Alistair didn't stay involved with us after he stopped playing, it was only because it would have hurt too much for him to see others doing what he loved to do with a passion. He was heavily involved in the music scene and keen on photography.
Rest in peace Alistair, first 5 every time.
